Polycarbonate roof panels are designed to solve that problem by combining strength, light control, and weather resistance in one roofing material. Different panel options allow each roof system to balance heat reduction, daylight, privacy, and shade.

Engineered Shade Systems
Built on decades of Japanese aluminum exterior engineering, each shade system integrates polycarbonate roof panels into a structural aluminum frame. Panel holders secure the roofing within the frame, while added panel support reinforces it against strong winds. Integrated gutters manage rainwater and direct it away from the covered space. The completed shade system provides decades of coverage for vehicles and outdoor spaces.

Heat protection gives polycarbonate roofing a real edge under the sun. Specially formulated polycarbonate panels reflect incoming sunlight and reduce the sun’s heat before it reaches the space below. For the strongest heat protection, Blue Smoke panels cut up to 83% of infrared heat rays. Other panel options offer different levels of heat reduction.

Hail Protection
Built to Take the Hit
Polycarbonate’s impact resistance is especially valuable when hail strikes. In Sankyo shade systems, the polycarbonate roof panels have about 250 times the impact resistance of glass. When hail hits, the panels flex and absorb the force of impact. They also resist becoming brittle in freezing temperatures, preserving their impact resistance through winter.

Creating shade that cuts the sun’s heat without sacrificing natural daylight is the balance translucent heat protection polycarbonate was formulated to achieve. Blue Smoke panels transmit 11% of visible light for more subdued shade, while Frosted panels transmit 76% and diffuse daylight for a brighter space below. Both block 100% of harmful UV rays.
